Illustrative scenarios · composites, not clients

Three engineers were great at AI. Twenty-two weren't.

A few power users and a lot of skeptics. One full day can turn that into a shared way of working.

Illustrative scenario. A composite based on patterns in Canadian technical consultancies. Not a named client. Hero delivers Canada-wide; this one runs online with one training day on site.

The situation

A technical consultancy already pays for Microsoft 365 with Copilot licences. Usage looks like most offices: a few enthusiasts write proposals twice as fast, and most people opened Copilot once, got a vague answer, and gave up.

The friction

  • The licences are paid for and mostly unused.
  • The skeptics have a point. Generic AI training showed someone writing a poem, not checking a spec section against a client RFP.
  • Quality worries. Senior engineers don't trust a tool that sounds confident and is sometimes wrong. That instinct is correct.
  • No shared habits. The enthusiasts each have their own prompts, and nobody else can use them.

What Hero would do

BranchWhat Hero would do
TrainingA Hero team training full day, built around the firm's real tasks: first drafts of proposal sections from past (approved) language, summarizing long RFPs into a requirement checklist, turning meeting notes into action logs, and verification habits (ask for sources, check against the original, never let AI sign off on a technical value). Each person leaves with three uses practised on their own laptop.
ConsultingA follow-on Hero AI consulting assessment captures where the time actually goes and ranks the next moves. It also writes down the firm's "never-paste" rules for client-confidential drawings and data.
Follow-on (optional)The plan names two candidate workflows (a proposal-library assistant and RFP-to-checklist intake). When the firm is ready, Hero can help put them in place. No pressure.

The outcome

What changed (qualitative):

  • The skeptics became careful users rather than non-users. The verification habits are what convinced them.
  • The enthusiasts' best prompts became a shared team library.
  • Leadership has a written, ranked plan instead of "we should do more with AI."
  • The firm got more out of licences it was already paying for, before spending on anything new.

We run a simple before-and-after survey with you and time a few of your real documents, rather than quoting an average.

Is this you?

You're paying for AI licences, and most of your team still doesn't trust the tool or know what to use it for.
